Beauty Is Only As Deep As Your Drink

It’s official - we all look better after a couple of drinks. Scientists have been looking into the phenomenon of how our senses are affected when we consume alcohol.
In particular they have been examining the impact of what is known as “beer goggles”, where members of the opposite sex become more and more attractive as the wine or beer flows.
beer gogglesThe research seems to indicate that women are the ones most likely to experience the effect of beer goggles.
The research was carried out by experts at London’s Roehampton University who asked more than 100 men and women to score pairs of faces.
Some did the tests while drinking a strong vodka and tonic. Others were given a placebo drink without alcohol but tasting like the alcoholic one.
Scientists asked the volunteers to judge the faces to see if they were symmetrical or non-symmetrical. Symmetry is associated with attractiveness as it is said to be a sign of strong genes.
The people who had alcohol found it harder to tell the difference and women were the worst.
Previous studies have also looked at the impact of beer goggles. A Bristol University study said men and women found each other more attractive with just the anticipation of a drink and the effect can felt after just two drinks.
While in America, it was discovered that men could experience the impact of beer goggles by just being encouraged to use words about alcohol like beer or wine
As one person put it. “The good news is that you don’t even have to have a drink to get drunk enough to put you in the mood. I just think about my favourite cocktail and that seems to do the trick.”
